Summer Camp:
What does a typical day consist
of during camp?
Every
morning camper rises and shine to begin their fun-filled day of activities. Starting in the morning the campers
bottle feed a baby calf and gather chicken eggs followed by a good
breakfast. Then they begin all
sorts of activities, whether it is riding horses, learning riflery and archery,
fishing or more they are constantly moving. After dinner, everyone rests during the
hot afternoon of Texas before heading to the swimming hole or ropes course to
fill their afternoon activities. Also a big part of the day is a Team building/project time. Campers learn all kinds of great
character building lessons and learn to work with others to get things
done. After a great supper, the
campers clean up and we begin our nightly devotional. After some great lessons on God’s love,
we begin our night activity. After a long and
adventurous day, the campers get to sleep comfortably in their bunk beds
preparing for another awesome day.
How safe are the activities?
(swimming, horses, zip)
All
of our activities are led by fully trained, experienced staff. Our head Wrangler has unlimited
experience with horses and extensively trains his wranglers to handle all
situations that arise. They spend
time with each group of campers and teach them how to handle a horse before
hitting the trail. Our head ropes
course instructor has over 40 hours of training experience and know how to
handle all issues that may come up. Each additional staff is fully trained and is kept under watchful eye to
provide the safest experience possible. Our Lifeguards partake in a rigorous 2-week training to be fully prepared
for anything. During swim time
there are 4 lifeguards on duty at all times. Also each counselor is swimming with the
kids to create the safest, most awesome experience for each camper.
Who is your summer
staff?
We
spend most of the year going to colleges to recruit the best young men and women
possible. After extensive
interviews, background checks, reference forms, and conversations, we choose the
best of the best. Our
Christ-centered, Kid-loving Counselors will build relationships with your child
and work with them to teach campers good character, work ethic and what it means
to have a personal relationship with Christ. Being well trained for two weeks, our
staff is sure that your child will have a safe, fun summer here at the Rockin’
C!!
What if my child becomes
homesick?
Homesickness is an
understandable issue for children, especially those first timers. Please make
sure your child is ready to stay at an overnight camp before sending them to
Rockin C. Our staff is fully trained to handle any homesickness and will comfort
your children in their time of need and most cases settle down in a few
hours. If Homesickness continues, full time staff
will contact the parents and decide what to do.
Am I allowed to write or
visit my child during camp?
We
ask that parents not come and visit their children during the week. A visit could lead to homesickness and
distract the children from partaking in some of the great activities we offer
(?). Yet we do encourage parents to write and email their child while they are
at camp. You can write to:
(Child’s
Name)(Name of camp; i.e.-Lakefront)
5300
CR 325
Lindale,
TX 75771
We ask that you don’t call unless it is an
emergency.
How can I register my child for
summer camp?
You
can either register online by clicking here or you can call our Office at
903-858-3308 where one of our registrars will get you set up for camp. If you are busy parent/guardian you can
email us at info@rockincranch.org and we will send you an
application(s) that you can complete and mail back.
What if I can’t afford it?
Please
click here and it will take you to our online scholarship application. Our goal
and desire is to serve families so that their children can come and experience
life-changing lessons that will guide them, as they become young
adults.
How many sessions can I sign my
child up for?
We
recommend no more than two sessions for any camper. We run our camp on a schedule according
to the group they are in, so in essence they would be doing two duplicates of
one week. Due to the popularity of
our Day Camp, Day Campers may attend a maximum of three
(3) non-consecutive sessions.
Can they bring a friend and if
so can they stay together?
Yes, if they want to have a
bunkmate, you can have their friend’s parents register their child for the same
week. Please make sure that the
campers are in the same age range. We separate our “herds” (groups) according to age. We would never put a 16 year old with a
7 year old. Make sure on the
application on its appropriate spot you put the name of the child you want your
child to bunk with.
What should my camper bring to

make sure your child brings enough clothing for a one-week stay at camp. Day Campers need only the items marked

Retreat:
What activities do you
provide?
We
specialize in having awesome activities for groups of all ages. From our horseback riding to our 600
foot zip-line to our rockin’ blob, you will never encounter a dull moment here at the Rockin’ C. During the warmer months is when we open
our swimming hole, but canoeing is open year round. We also provide Low and High Ropes
Challenge Courses that are lead by our awesome team of facilitators. In the Challenge courses you will learn
to work together, overcome fears, and have a blast. Our horseback riding is a unique
experience for anyone who has or has not ridden a horse before. Our Head Wrangler will show you how to
have a great time riding your horse for an awesome hour and half trail
ride.
What is the lodging
like?
We have three magnificent authentic log cabins where your group can
stay. Cougar, which is our newest
and largest cabin, has a meeting room within the cabin, indoor restrooms, and
three levels. Bobcat and Quail are
a bit smaller but still with plenty of room. While housing is similar in every
way, Quail meets in the Whitetail meeting room, while Bobcat has it’s own
meeting room. Both use a bathhouse
that is within 50 feet of the cabins. All our cabins are bunk style arrangements with plenty of room and
comfort for your groups. Please
call the office for more information.
How do I sign up?
You can call the office at
903-858-3308 and talk to our Retreat Coordinator, Jason Albright, about
availability and prices. He will
also answer any additional questions you might have about our
facilities.
