Summer Camp:

What does a typical day consist of during camp?

Campers begin their day with "Critter Care" (bottle feeding a calf and gathering chicken eggs) followed by a hearty breakfast. The morning is filled with activities, such as riding horses, learning riflery or archery, canoeing, fishing, team building, crafts, baking and more. Lunch is followed by time to rest before afternoon activities and snack time. In the late afternoon, everybody has a chance to cool off with fun water activities at the swimmin' hole. After cleaning up, campers will enjoy a delicious supper followed by a nightly devotional and worship time. Following evening devotion, campers gather for a night game or to watch a rodeo. Finally, after a long and adventure-filled day, campers crawl back into their bunk beds to prepare for another action-packed day.

How safe are the activities? (swimming, horses, ropes course)

All of our summer staff are trained to lead daily activities at camp. Some of our camp activities require additional training and/or certifications. Our wranglers are required to have substantial experience with horses and they receive further safety training prior to the beginning of camp. Safety rules are reviewed with each group of campers before they are allowed to ride horses. Our ropes course manager is required to complete over 40 hours of training in safety and operation of the course. Our lifeguards are trained and certified by Red Cross instructors. Lifeguards are on-duty at all times when the swimming area is open, and campers are required to wear a life jackets while swimming.

Who is your summer staff?

We spend several weeks each year visiting college campuses to recruit the best young men and women possible. Each staff person has undergone an interview, reference checks and a criminal / sex offender background check. Our Christ-centered, kid-loving counselors will build a relationship with your child and find fun and creative ways to instill character, work ethic and knowledge of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Summer staff participate in two weeks of staff training prior to the beginning of camp to ensure that your child will have a safe, fun experience at Rockin’ C Ranch!

What if my child becomes homesick?

Homesickness is an understandable issue for some campers. Please make sure that your camper is capable of an overnight stay at camp before they arrive at Rockin' C Ranch. Note that campers are not allowed to call home during their stay at camp. If our counselors notice that your child is feeling homesick, our camp nurse and full-time staff will monitor the situation and will contact you if your camper's condition does not improve.

Am I allowed to write or visit my child during camp?

We ask parents not to visit their children at camp during the week. Visits often prompt homesickness and distract campers from the camp experience. Rockin' C Ranch also limits guests in camp to protect the safety of all campers. Family and friends are encouraged to write and email campers while they are at camp. You can write to:

Child’s Name

Camp and Session (ex., Trailhead 4)

Lindale, TX 75771

How can I register my child for summer camp?

You can either register online (see the Summer Camp page) or you can call our office at 903-858-3308 to speak with a registrar. Printed applications may also be downloaded from our homepage.

What if I can’t afford camp?

Limited partial scholarships are available upon request. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and individual circumstances. In order to apply for a scholarship, please complete and submit a Scholarship Request along with a Summer Camp Application. Scholarship Request forms are available at www.RockinCRanch.org/forms.php.

How many sessions can I sign my child up for?

We recommend no more than two sessions for any camper. Each week throughout our summer has the same programmed activities and campers attending multiple sessions may become bored with repetition. Due to the popularity of our Day Camp, Day Campers may attend a maximum of three (3) non-consecutive sessions.

Can my child be with his/her friend?

Cabin groups and Day Camp groups are assigned according to age. Any camper may request to be grouped with a friend using the cabin mate or Day Camp buddy request. Requests will be considered if both campers fall into the same age group (Day Camp, Lakefront, Trailhead, or Hillside) and there are no conflicting requests. Only one request will be considered and both children must request each other. Requests should be made to the camp office no later than two weeks prior to the camp session.

Retreat:

What activities do you provide?

We specialize in having awesome activities for groups of all ages. From our horseback riding to our 600 foot zip-line to our rockin’ blob, you will never encounter a dull moment here at the Rockin’ C. During the warmer months is when we open our swimming hole, but canoeing is open year round. We also provide Low and High Ropes Challenge Courses that are lead by our awesome team of facilitators. In the Challenge courses you will learn to work together, overcome fears, and have a blast. Our horseback riding is a unique experience for anyone who has or has not ridden a horse before. Our Head Wrangler will show you how to have a great time riding your horse for an awesome hour and half trail ride.

What is the lodging like?

We have three magnificent authentic log cabins where your group can stay. Cougar, which is our newest and largest cabin, has a meeting room within the cabin, indoor restrooms, and three levels. Bobcat and Quail are a bit smaller but still with plenty of room. While housing is similar in every way, Quail meets in the Whitetail meeting room, while Bobcat has it’s own meeting room. Both use a bathhouse that is within 50 feet of the cabins. All our cabins are bunk style arrangements with plenty of room and comfort for your groups. Please call the office for more information.

How do I sign up?

You can call the office at 903-858-3308 and talk to our Retreat Coordinator, LuAnne Ashley, about availability and prices. She will also answer any additional questions you might have about our facilities.
